About Albert Bichot Pouilly-Fuissé Village
South of the Côte d'Or, in Burgundy, we can find the Mâconnais Village AOC. The villages of Fuissé, Solutré, Pouilly, Vergisson and Chaintré form the soul of this area where the vineyards are located on steep slopes. Its foundation is a limestone and lime soil, formed by hard fossil corals that have resisted erosion and the passage of time. In total, 20,000 years – nothing more and nothing less – have been necessary for forming the essence of this Jurassic terroir that today gives birth to some of the best white wines in the world. Producers have recognised this and, after several years of stagnation, have reawakened with a vengeance. The famous Alberto Bichot, an expert in terroirs and vineyards, has also been able to see this and here he produces Albert Bichot Pouilly-Fuissé Village.
Chardonnay (considered the most popular grape for making white wine) finds its most mineral and powerful expression here. This character will be tamed in the cellar, with fermentation in oak barrels and stainless steel tanks, which will last between five and six weeks. Albert Bichot Pouilly-Fuissé Village is then aged for eight months in French oak vats and barrels.
Today, Albert Bichot manages six domaines and 105 hectares of vineyards throughout Burgundy. He also buys grapes from more than 70 partner growers (which, in terms of production, translates into 350 hectares). If anyone knows how to control the richness and variety of Burgundy, it is him. And in Albert Bichot Pouilly-Fuissé Village, he puts on a sublime performance.

2020 | Albert Bichot Pouilly-Fuissé Village 2020 is a wine that is full of character, mainly mineral, very lively and aromatic. White fruit, spice and a slight vanilla touch appear on the nose. The palate is mineral and round, with good balance. Very understated. Long finish. |
