Characteristics of Yaso
Yaso is a red wine from Toro prepared by Yaso vineyards, a well-known winery, part of the Compañía de Viñedos Iberian group.
This is a wine group owned by the Osborne Osborne family, who have several Spanish wineries in Ribera del Duero, Penedes, Toro, Rías Baixas, Jerez ....
Yaso is made from 100% Tinta de Toro. The grapes come from vineyards on the Yaso farm, located in the town of Morales de Toro (Zamora). This property has an area of 14 hectares of vineyards and their age is around 20 years.
For its preparation, the wine is fermented for 14 days in 15,000 litre tanks at a controlled temperature of 25 ° C. After this process, the wine is left to macerate for eight days with its skins.
Finally, Yaso is aged for 6 months in new French oak barrels.

D.O. Toro is a Denomination of Origin that is situated in the north west of Spain, along the River Duero and its tributaries. From the beginning the Tinta de Toro variety has produced great red wine that is full of flavour and complexity: powerful and full bodied with great tannins.
The relation between the Osborne-Osborne family and wine has its beginnings in the 18th century, in the beautiful city of El Puerto de Santa María, in the heart of the Bahía de Cádiz. The strategic location of El Puerto means it has always been open to other cultures and commerce since its foundation over 3,000 years ago.
In 1968, Borja and Rufina Osborne (from two separate branches of the Osborne family) married, birthing the seven children that would later become managers of the family project, called COMPAÑÍA DE VIÑEDOS IBERIAN. They established their offices and headquarters in the family villa, which originally was the residence of their grandparents (Hacienda El Pinar), overlooking the beautiful Bahía de Cádiz. Originally, Borja, Rosa, Estanislao, Ana María, Santiago, Juan Pablo and Marcos began their search for an estate where they could cultivate their dreams through the production of red wine. They found this in an estate in Pesquera del Duero (Valladolid), under the name "El Quiñón". They will eventually build their first winery here, naming it "Viñas del Jaro," under the DO Ribera del Duero. Then, they will move to Tarragona (Cataluña) and found Bodegas y Viñedos de Cal Grau, in the DO Priorat. They will keep opting for the production of red wines with lots of personality from different areas of Spain, including DO Toro. Today, they are also present in the other previously mentioned DOs and highly prestigious areas such as Rioja, Rueda, Cava-Penedés, Vino de la Tierra de Castilla, Rías Baixas, Castilla la Mancha (Moral de Calatrava) and in the DO Bierzo.
