Bodega Classica is a winery located in San Vicente de la Sonsierra, one of the towns with the strongest winemaking tradition in D.O. La Rioja. It is here that it produces its new range of "classicos" wines, which provide a modern and current perspective while remaining in line with the philosophy of the great wines from La Rioja.
Bodega Classica was founded in 2009 by the Arambarri's: a Riojan family, owners of the Vintae group. They began with the Castillo de Maetierra winery, the only one specialized in Rioja white wines. Later came Valles de Sadacia, also in La Rioja, and finally the D.O. Ribera del Duero, Navarra, and the D.O. Toro in 2009 with the already famous Bodega Matsu. Currently, the Vintae group cultivates in nine Spanish D.O.s. Its goal is to produce innovative, quality wines that are adapted to consumers' changing tastes and retain the character of each production zone.
Philosophy Bodega Classica is located in San Vicente de la Sonsierra in the heart of D.O. La Rioja. It is one of the towns with the strongest winemaking tradition in Spain. Bodega Classica produces Tempranillo, Garnacha, Viura and Graciano varieties on clayey soil with good drainage, especially ideal for the production of Tempranillo. They are old, between 50 and 80 years old, and are cultivated using a low vine system. The harvest takes place manually, cluster by cluster, when the grapes are in their optimal ripening period. They are transported to the winery by small trailers.
It is located at the top of a hill and its intelligent, largely underground, design allows constant, year-round natural air ventilation. It also allows the gravity flow of grapes, without the use of pumps, which give undesired taste to the wine since they tear the skin and crush the seeds.
The grapes ferment in stainless steel tanks of between 15,000 and 30,000 litres.
There are 5,000 barrels in Bodega Classica, of which almost three fourths are French oak, and the rest are American oak.
Wine from Bodega Clássica Bodega Classica is known for its López de Haro collection -- great wines produced with traditional techniques at bargain prices. This collection has caught the eye of wine lovers around the world. Hacienda López de Haro Tempranillo, Hacienda López de Haro Crianza and Hacienda López de Haro Reserva. This collection is topped off by the Hacienda López de Haro Blanco and the Hacienda López de Haro Rosado.
