Characteristics of Viña Zorzal Garnacha Blanca
Viña Zorzal Garnacha Blanca is a white wine from the D.O. Navarra produced by Bodegas Zorzal in Corella, Navarra. Founded in 1989, the winery focuses on working with native varieties and with the philosophy that a wine is made at the vineyard.
The vineyard used is situated in the town of Fitero, at 490 metres above sea level, on stony and rocky soils with clay, limestone and conglomerates. The harvest is carried out manually.
Cold maceration of the grapes lasts 10 hours with the skins before pressing. The free run juice undergoes fermentation at 15ºC in order to preserve all of the aromas. The wine is aged for 4 months with its lees in stainless steel tanks.
Some wine regions have to bear the weight of their own prestige and fame, and this is certainly the case for Navarra. For many years, the white and reds produced in this region came second to the rosés produced here with the noble Grenacha variety. However, the last two decades have seen ongoing changes in the wine-making sector in Navarra, changes which have completely transformed the styles of wine produced and have been consistently worthwhile, resulting in some of the white and red wines produced in Navarra being ranked among best rated in Spain.
