Características de Viña Pomal Centenario Reserva
Viña Pomal Centenario Reserva is a red wine from the Rioja region produced by Bodegas Bilbaínas. This wine is made using Tempranillo (100%) grapes, which are the most common in the region. The grapes used to make Viña Pomal Centenario Reserva are grown exclusively on the wineries vineyards which span 90 hectares. These are located inside the municipality of Haro and less than 2 kilometres from the winery, in one of the town's most beautiful enclaves, overlooking the Ebro river as it flows downstream through the Conchas de Haro pass. The different plots are home to soils of various kinds, as well as different sun exposure of each plot.
At the winery, the grapes are alcoholically fermented at a controlled temperature of 28ºC. Following this, maceration takes place for 3 weeks.
Viña Pomal Centenario Rserva ages for 18 months in american oak barrels (a fifth of which are new). During this phase, daily rackings occur. Finally before being marketed, Viña Pomal Centenario Reserva refines for 2 more years in the bottle. This wine is a referene point for Bodegas Bilbaínas. The first vintage of this wine back in 1996 celebrated the 100 years since the foundation of the winery.

La Rioja is one of the most important areas of wine production in the world. It has a long history, and exceptional soils and climates. From the Tempranillo and Grenache varieties they make great red wines that are masterfully aged which demonstrates the experience passed from generation to generation.
The century old Bodegas Bilbaínes was born with a Gallic heart and was consolidated with a Riojan spirit. Bodegas Bilbaínes is the oldest bottling company in La Rioja, and is the winery with both the largest area of underground cellars, as well as the winery with the largest span of vineyards in the town of Haro. Since its founding, the winery has been characterised by its profound knowledge of the terroir, as well as the careful production of its single estate wines, all of which express the character of the plot they come from, each recognised with their own name: with Viña Pomal born in 1911; Viña Zaco in 1921, the white wine Viña Paceta from 1923, and their latest addition the reserva La Vicalanda from 1994,adifferential and expressive wine that comes from a payment of 9 hectares selected from the plot Viña Pomal.
