This new vintage, Viña Arana, is a red wine. Its previous 2005 vintage gained 18.5 points out of 20 from Decanter and it was placed among the top 3 best Riojas of the year of Masters of Wine Pedro Ballesteros i Anette Scarfe.
This wine is produced by Bodega La Rioja Alta in D.O. La Rioja. It is a coupage of Tempranillo (95%), from vineyards planted in Rodezno and Labastida, and Mazuelo (5%) planted in Rodezno.
As for the production, it undergoes an alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature for 11 days, while malolactic develops for 44 days. Finally, Viña Arana ages for 3 years in American Oak Barrels and every 6 months it is transferred, by a traditional method, from barrel to barrel.
