Characteristics of Vespres
New vintage of this red wine made by Josep Grau Viticultors winery in Marçà (D.O. Montsant).
Vespres owes its name to the monks of Cartuja who planted the vineyards in this area, who said vísperas (evening prayers) every day at 6.45 pm before having the last glass of red wine of the day.
Vespres comes from 35-50-year-old vines. Both the harvest and the production process are manual. It is aged for 8 months in French oak barrels. It is bottled without being filtered.
Serve at 15ºC

The DO Montsant is situated in the province of Tarragona, surrounding the DOQ Priorat. Although a young Denominación de Origen, The DO Monstant is located in a land with a large history in winemaking. The wines, mostly reds, are typically made with Grenache and Carignan grapes and are authentic, wild and artisanal. Wines produced in this region are usually extremely good value given the high quality.
For Josep Grau, winegrower and oenologist, his obsession is the selection of the vineyard, and his final goal is to make the best wines, authentic and exciting. He works with a puzzle of small vineyards in the municipalities of Marçà, Capçanes and Falset, each with its particular mineral richness, with clay, calcareous, granite and slate soils that provide, together with an extreme and unpredictable climate, genuine wines, superb, rich, and with the identity of fruit and terroir.
