Characteristics of Vermell
Vermell is a white wine from the D.O. Penedés made by Can Descregut, a winery that strives to make high quality wines with personality, that reflect the winery's philosophy and the terroir from where they come. This winery, with scarce production, respect the environment by using organic farming methods. They are certified by the CCPAE.
This wine is a red Xarel.lo (100%) single-varietal, an almost extinct variety, which makes this wine unique and different. The grapes come from old vines over 50 years old.
The wine is subject to a cold pellicular maceration for 48 hours, in order to extract the aromas and colour. A static debourage of the must is then carried out at 14ºC and the alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel deposits.

But the reality is, given the vast diversity, it can be difficult to pinpoint what really defines a wine from Penedès, since there are so many types of wines and wineries in the region. However, the common denominator of all the wines from Penedès continues to be balance and quality.
