Vardon Kennett Esplendor is a sparkling wine without denomination of origin produced by the winery Vardon Kennett, in Mediona, Alt Penedés.
Vardon Kennett is the new winery of Bodegas Torres. Created exclusively to make sparkling wines, it is located in the municipality of Mediona, 500 metres above sea level, in the northernmost part of Penedés.
Bodegas Torres is a family business that was founded in 1870 by Jaime and Miguel Torres Vendrell, and that has had several generations dedicated to the production of wine and brandy in Penedés. Currently, Bodegas Torres produces wines in many wine regions of the world. In Spain, it has 4 wineries of its own, in 4 other denominations of origin, Penedés, Rioja, Ribera del Duero and Priorat.
Vardon Kennett Esplendor is a sparkling wine, extra brut, made with Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Xarel·lo from vineyards located in the farm Santa Maria de Agulladolç, at 500 metres of altitude.
After the harvest, the grapes go through the alcoholic fermentation with native yeasts. Depending on the vintage, and on the acidity, they also go through the malolactic fermentation. Following the traditional method, the wine is aged in the bottle for a minimum of 30 months.
Vardon Kennett Esplendor is a sparkling, mature, creamy wine. Very elegant. On the nose, aromas of ripe white fruit are perfectly assembled with the notes of pastries and light toasted notes from its ageing in the bottle. In the mouth, it is elegant, with a fine bubble, and a distinguished mid-palate.
