Characteristics of Valdelana Viura
Valdelana Viura is a white wine produced by the winery Valdelana in the D.O Rioja.
This winery is located in El Ciego (La Rioja Alavesa) and is the property of the Valdeana family who have been caring for the lands since the 16th century. They use every last drop of experience to produce this Rioja wine.
Valdelana Viura is 100% produced from the grape variety Viura.
The vines are planted in calcareous-clay soils with an elevated amount of chalk, this results in a low yield of grapes.
The vines are south facing, this is to provide maximum sunlight to the plants. The vines also find shelter from the harsh northerly winds thanks to mountains of Sierra de Cantabria which aid to create a microclimate like no other, producing very aromatic grapes with very little water.
For production, the wine receives a traditional wine making method, and is fermented at a controlled 14ºC.
