Urogallo Pésico is a red wine produced in VT Cangas by the Dominio de Urogallo winery in Cangas de Narcea, Asturias.
Dominio del Urogallo is a project founded by Nicolás Marcos and his partner Fran Asencio in Asturias. Native to Toro, Nico discovered his personal and most revolutionary project in the Cangas area, with native varieties like the Verdejo Tinto or the Albarín Tinta, an Atlantic climate and soil made up of quartz, slate and anthricite. He cultivates the vineyards following the precepts of biodynamic viticulture and takes care of the fruit during production, without filtering or adding anything.
Urogallo Pésico is made with grapes from 4 different plots planted with the native varieties Verdejo Tinto, Mencía, Albarín Tinto and Carrasquin. The grape is destemmed and ferments in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then decanted into used barrels where malolactic fermentation and a later 15 month ageing process takes place.
10/12/17Urogallo Pésico 2013I drank this wine during a very nice meal in Cangas del Narcea and I loved it. I was able to buy one bottle to bring home on the airplane. Back home I searched for it, found it at Decántalo and ordered a case.
Hard to describe but very pleasantly to drink.
