Characteristics of Tragolargo
Tragolargo is a red wine from the Alicante region produced by the Bernabé Navarro winery. It contains only Monastrell grapes.
The grapes used to make Tragolargo come exclusively from the Finca Casa Balaguer,
The grapes for Tragolargo are harvested at 3 different phases. In the winery, each harvest will undergo different treatment. The first set (30%) of the grapes ferment at 15º without being destemmed, another 40% ferment after being broken, crushed and destemmed, with the final 30% maintaining the whole grape after being detemmed.
It is important to remember that the production of Tragolargo is carried out without the addition of sulphates or enzymes. Infact, there is minimal intervention at all stages of the wines production, from the harvest to the bottling. Indigenous yeasts are used and the wine is neither clarified nor filtered before being bottled.
Bernabé Navarro is a project of Rafa Bernabé, a known winemaker who became well-known for creating the wine Beryna. The wines produced by the winery are unique, limited production and are greatly enjoyed.
There is no doubt that the Monastrell grape variety has become a fashionable grape variety. This region is home to over half a dozen cooperatives, which have been at the forefront of a wine revolution, making wines that are respectful to the local culture the area, cultivating vines with care, selecting only the best fruit and producing wines that faithfully express character of the terroir. These wines are easy to identify, due to the fact the estate or vineyard from which they came from is usually printed on their label. Also, their authenticity and quality can be guaranteed by the DO Alicante, which not only certifies the farms, but also everything posted on the wines labeling.
