Characteristics of Tocat de l'Ala

Tocat de l'Ala is a red wine from the D.O. Empordà made by Coca i Fitó Celler. In 2006, the Coca i Fitó brothers decided to set up a new winery under the name Coca i Fitó, dedicated to making one of a kind wines in the DO Montsant. Together, these brothers make a formidable pair. Toni Coca has extensive experience as a winemaker and Miquel Coca, who trained as a professional chef and studied foreign trade, takes care of the winery's design and commercial activities.

The driving idea behind their winery is to make unique wines which display the identity of the land and through which they can show their innovative new ideas. Quality is one of their main priorities.

Tocat d l'Ala is made from old Grenache and Carignan vines, from different municipalities in l'Alt Empordà. The wine ages for 4 months in French and American oak which helps to improve and integrate the blend.

This wine is the result of the collaboration of the efforts and ideas of two wineries, Coca i Fitó and Roig Parals. These two wineries have come together to create a new line of unique wines in the DO Empordà, with fruit and approachability being their strong points. This project has a clear objective: to express the essence of the terroir through a sip of wine.

Tasting notes Tocat de l'Ala

Sight Intense cherry colour. Nose Aromas of redcurrents and raspberries, with hints of thyme. Taste A long, elegant and mineral wine, offering red fruit, balsamic notes and some cocoa touches. Soft, round and fresh tannins. Nice aftertaste. A very enjoyable wine.

Winery Coca i Fitó

The landscape of the region of Empordà, located in the northeast of Catalonia, is full of contrasts, due to the natural limits of the Pyrenees in the north and the Mediterranean Sea and magnificent Costa Brava in the east. Thanks to these, the Empordà is a unique place, a special territory between the sea and the mountains, marked by the presence of the north wind known as Tramontana.

Coca i Fitó is a project by brothers Toni and Miquel Coca i Fitó, from Alt Penedès, sons of farmers and brought up among vineyards. They started their adventure in the lands of Montsant with their own production of unique, modern wines. Their wines, made from a selection of grapes from different vineyards and with a varied mineral composition, combine the minerality of the terroir with the essence of the Grenache, Carignan and Syrah. They also take part in other unique projects with other wineries in areas like Empordà, Terra Alta, Ribeira Sacra and the neighbouring Priorat.
