Characteristics of Tobía Selección
Tobías is a red wine from the IO Rioja, produced by Bodega Tobías, founded in 1994 by Oscar Tobías and Ana Castelló in the village of Cuzcurrita de Rio Tiron, Rioja Alta. It is a wine of recognized international acclaim. In 2002 it was awarded international status by the Rioja Chamber of Commerce.
Tobías is made from 3 typical varieties of La Rioja: Tempranillo (80%), Grenache (10%) and Graciano (10%). The vineyards are planted on stony and clay-limestone soils at an altitude of 345 m, and on sandy soils at an altitude of 570 m. Regarding its preparation, the harvest is done manually, alcoholic fermentation occurs at a controlled temperature of 25-26 ° C and malolactic fermentation occurs in barrel. The wine is aged for 18 months in barrels of French and American oak before aging in the bottle for 12 months.
Notably the greatest award obtained by previous vintages of Tobías wine: the 2008 vintage was awarded the Decanter World Wine Awards 2012 Award: Bronze Medal and the 2007 vintage scored 90 points in the guide "Live wines. 365 wines a year "and 91 points in "The Catavinos ".
