Characteristics of Tinto Pesquera Reserva Millenium
Tinto Pesquera Reserva Millenium is a red wine produced by the winery TintoPesquera, in Pesquera de Duero (Valladolid), D.O. Ribera del Duero.
Tinto Pesquera is the most emblematic winery of the prestigious Alejandro Fernández, an oenologist of reference in Ribera del Duero for 4 decades, and still at the forefront of the winery, supervising its vineyards each day, at his over 80 years of age.
Located in Pesquera de Duero, Tinto Pesquera has more than 200 hectares of vineyards trained in low espalier, on poor soils, but well drained. The soils have sands and gravels, on top of a base of limestone and clays.
Tinto Pesquera started its journey in the 70s. Since the very beginning, it has been the synonym of quality, giving prestige to the area well before Ribera del Duero turned into one of the most renowned wine regions.
Tinto Pesquera Reserva Millenium is a red wine made with Tempranillo from the vineyard Viña Alta, planted by Alejandro Fernández himself at the end of the 60s. This vineyard is located at 800 metres of altitude, planted on soils with a clayey base and a lot of boulders.
Once the grapes are harvested manually, they are taken to the winery and destemmed before they are transferred to stainless steel deposits. Here, they undergo the maceration and the alcoholic fermentation. After the fermentation, the wine spends 24 months in French oak barrels and remains another 10 months in the bottle before going on the market.
Tinto Pesquera Reserva Millenium is an intense, ample and structured wine. On the nose, the ripe black fruit aromas stand out, with the toasted and smoked notes of the ageing. In the mouth, it is elegant and silky, with a harmonious and very long finish.

Vega Sicilia continued to maintain and grow the myth in the entire world for decades, other wineries, with masterly red wines, fino wines and long-aged wines, awakened the passion of the most expert and renowned international tasters. One of the greatest examples is Alejandro Fernández. The appearance of his Tinto Pesquera in 1975 was a revolution in the world of wine in Ribera. Some of the wines resemble them who made them, and in this case, they are quite right. Tinto Pesquera and Alejandro Fernández have in common a resounding personality, a dazzling style, open, convincing from the first glass. Capable of giving everything it has now and also gaining complexity and nuances over the year s, without losing its original character. Without any doubt, Pesquera wines have a style that is both special and personal. Some critics, like renowned Robert Parker, have placed them among the best wines in the world.
