Characteristics of Tequila Ocho
Ocho is made by Carlos Camarena, a third generation Tequilero, in partnership with Tomas Estes. What makes Ocho different and unique from other tequilas is the way in which it demonstrates the relationship between earth and agave. Each vintage of Ocho is both rare and collectable.
Tequila Ocho values using traditional methods which keep the production process as natural and artisanal as possible. All the agaves cook slowly in brick ovens and ferment naturally with yeasts in open vats. The tequila distills very slowly, at a low temperature to conserve the agave flavours as much as possible. Chemical products are not used. The traditional method is carried out by hand at every step of the production process, including the bottling, in which each bottle is numbered by hand and stamped with the name of the ranch of each vintage.
Ocho Reposado rests for 8 weeks and 8 days to obtain the unparalleled smoothness and complexity which mark a truly great Tequila.
Tasting notes Tequila Ocho
SightA very clear straw colour.NoseSmooth, pleasant aromas of agave, fruity and floral.TasteA smooth agave flavour at first. It doesn't have the heavy wood flavour that many añejos have, although this is to be expected since it has a very clear straw colour for an añejo. Very pleasant on the palate with a strong presence of the agave and smooth vanilla. A nice spicy finish lingers along with a nice burning sensations, which isn't at all overwhelming, even though its nuance lingers for a while after drinking.
