Tanca Els Ulls Macabeu is an aged white wine made with the Macabeo variety by Celler de Cesc in Tarragona.
Part of a movement of small vignerons in 2014, Cesc Boronat reopened the winery that had been making wine 100 years earlier and run by his ancestors in the town of Nulles (Tarragona). Now he is taking on his own project. Currently, Celler del Cesc has a small production of 10,000 bottles, naturally produced, made from a total of 6 hectares of Mediterranean landscape.
Tanca Els Ulls Macabeu comes from small plantations of bushes and nut trees growing almonds and hazelnuts. An estate of 1.5 hectares of almost centennial vineyards facing the sea, cultivated using ecological and biodynamic practices and seeking minimal intervention in the vineyard. The harvest and selection is carried out manually at the optimum point of ripeness.
In the winery, Tanca Els Ulls Macabeu macerates with skins in stainless steel tanks for 7 days. 50% ferments in amphorae and the remaining 50% in stainless steel tanks for 6 months.
Tanca Els Ulls Macabeu is a natural white wine with good acidity and a deeply Mediterranean character.
