Characteristics of Spanish White Guerrilla Chardonnay
Spanish White Guerrilla Chardonnay is made with grapes of the Chardonnay variety. This variety has never before been used in the geographical boundaries of the autonomous community of La Rioja. The soils, high in salt and lacking in fertility, along with the fresh and humid climate, result in a round wine with strong notes of fruit and honey.
The grapes come from a young vineyard, arranged in a high trellis formation with high density (3600 plants per hectare), in clayey, calcareous soils high in salt and not very fertile.
They are harvested during the first fortnight of September at night, between 1:00 AM and 9:00 AM, when the temperature is cool, to prevent the grapes from oxidising.
The wine ferments in 10,000 litre stainless steel deposits at a low temperature of around 14 degrees. After fermentation it stays in the stainless steel deposits and ages on its fine lees for 3 months.
