Characteristics of Siós Violes Velles

Siós Viole Velles is a D.O. Costers del Segre rosé produced by Costers del Sió.

It is a coupage between Garnacha Tinta (85 percent) and Syrah (15 percent). Meticulous selection of the grapes takes place in the vineyard, where production does not exceed 5500 kg/ha. The wine is later devatted following the must's maceration with its grape skins. Subsequently, the wine is fermented at 15ºC for about 20 days.

Alcohol: 13.5%

D.O. D.O. Costers del Segre

Winery Costers del Sió

When we refer to the DO Costers del Segre we think of wines with a continental character, which in some respects is true, but extensive replantation of international grape varieties means that the majority of wines produced here lack a geographical or territorial trademark, even though the vast majority of the wines are technologically perfect. However, there are currently wineries such as Mas Blanch i Jové, Costers del Sio, L’Olivera, Lagravera and Thomas Cusiné, among others, who concentrate their effors on producing wines with what are considered varieties native to the region. However, the majority of this region is still dominated by classic international varieties.
