Characteristics of Sicus Xarel·lo

Sicus Xarel·lo is a white wine from Penedès produced by Sicus in Bonastre, Tarragona.

Sicus is Eduard Pie´s personal project. A young wine grower of the area, he wanted to reinterpret the land, returning to native varieties and using production techniques that respect the grapes.

Sicus Xarel·lo comes from a plantation called La Caseta, located 180 metres above sea level and 6km from the sea on shallow clay-limestone soils scarce in organic materials.

Production starts with a pre-fermentation cold maceration in order to concentrate the aromatic compounds of the grapes, it is pressed and ferments in ceramic amphoras at a controlled temperature of 12ºC. It is aged for 6 months in stainless steel tanks.
