Characteristics of Serè
Serè is a red wine from the D.O Montsant produced by Bodega Vendrell-Rived. This wine is a blend of Garnacha Tinta and Samsó.
The climate is Mediterranean, although possesses certain continental touches. The mountains act as a natural barrier against the wind; the thermic differences between day and night are easily perceivable. The winters are characterised by being cold and the summers are hot and dry.
The grapes for Serè originate from vines that are aged between 10 to 50 years old planted in calcareous, clay and slate soils. The vineyards grow at an altitude of 250-300 meters.
After the harvest the grapes for Serè are transported to the winery. The grapes varieties are vinified separately.
The last stage before being bottled, Serè is aged for 5 months in French oak barrels.
Vendrell-Rived is a small Catalan winery that was founded in 2000, which was even before the D.O Montsant. Their average annual output reaches around 20,000 bottles which is shared between Serè and L'Alleu Vinyes Velles.
