Selección Especial Nº1 is a sweet wine from the D.O Malaga produced by winery Jorge Oróñez. This is a single variety from the grape Moscatel de Alejandría.
The grapes used to produce Selección Especial Nº1 originate from vines with an averaging 40 years of age, located at 400 meters above sea level in the mountains of Axarquía, in Málaga.
The climate is very sunny and dry, which results in very low yielding vines, but fantastic quality.
The harvest for Selección Especial Nº1 is performed later than usual, this is to achieve an over ripening of the grape. Once the grapes are in the winery, they are selected from the sorting table.
Selección Especial Nº1 is subsequently fermented in stainless steel tanks, the process is stopped when the correct alcohol level as been achieved.
Jorge Ordóñez is one of the leading producers of sweet wine. The winery is directed by the Austrian, Alois Kracher.
