Characteristics of Sardón

Sardón is a red wine from the V.T Castilla-León produced by the Quinta Sardonia winery. This wine is made predominantly with Tempranillo (93%), with small quantities of Garnacha, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec.

The grapes used to produce this wine come from vines that are over 35 years old, including vines that are over a century old. The vines grow on calcareous clay and sandy soils. 

Following the harvest, the vinification process begins with the grapes undergoing a short incubation at controlled temperatures. This is carried out with the aim of minimal extraction from the grape which allows for a fruity and aromatic character of the grapes.

Sardón is then aged for 12 months, spending 6 months in French oak barrels (2nd use), followed by 6 months in stainless steel and concrete tanks.
