Sameirás Libro Blanco is a white wine coupage of the Albariño, Lado and Loureira Blanca varieties, produced by Adega Antonio Cajide under the DO Ribeiro in Galicia, Spain.
For the production of Sameirás Libro Blanco wine, the bunches are selected directly in the vineyard and harvested by variety. The grapes go through a cold maceration and ferment with their own yeasts at controlled temperatures. The resulting wine is aged for a couple of months with its fine lees.
Sameirás is an area belonging to the Ribadavia municipality in Ourense, where Antonio Cajide restored the old building where his ancestors made wine and returned to the source with the aim of finding and offering the excellence of Ribeiro through its most representative grapes and those native vines which aren’t so well known but which give identity and personality to their wines.
At Adega Antonio Cajide, they work with the utmost respect for the environment and with minimal intervention to ensure that the soils preserve their integrity, thus allowing life to flow. In their vineyards, only the bunches at optimum ripeness are harvested, and up to three harvests can be carried out per plot. The winery doesn’t have a selection table, so the purification of the fruit is carried out directly at the foot of the vineyard. Adega Antonio Cajide has six hectares of plots where vines up to 70 years old grow and where schist soils, evolved slate with the presence of quartz and pebbles, and granite-type sandy soils predominate, which without a doubt make up an interesting project worth keeping track of.
