Characteristics of Roberto Voerzio Langhe Nebbiolo
Roberto Voerzio Langhe Nebbiolo is a Nebbiolo variety red wine made in Langhe (Piedmont) by the Roberto Voerzio winery.
The Roberto Voerzio winery is known for making modern wines in the Piedmont region of Italy. Managing 21 acres of vineyards located in the town of La Morra, this winemaker, along with his wife Gianni, is known for his Barolo and Nebbiolo wines, which are made from a very low vine yield, with concentrated grapes and using barrels. An extremely limited but high quality yield that produces about 4,000 boxes per harvest.
The vineyard Roberto Voerzio Langhe Nebbiolo comes from is densely planted. An average of 1,618 strains per acre with very low yields. Each plant is fertilised individually with the aim of getting the right balance and allowing all the vines to ripen evenly. The grapes are harvested manually when they reach optimum ripeness.
In the winery, the Roberto Voerzio Langhe Nebbiolo must ferments in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. Then 70% of the wine is put in used barrels and 30% in new barrels for 12 months. It then ages for 8 months in steel and 25 hl botti. They do not use any substances that would change the wine’s characteristics and it is not filtered before bottling.
Roberto Voerzio Langhe Nebbiolo is a red wine produced in very small quantities, and represents one of Piedmont's great producers.
