Domaine Robert Groffier is a family winery from Côte de Nuits, in Burgundy, which produces wines that are intended to be a pure expression of their terroir. It was founded in 1950 by Robert Groffier’s father, and currently the third generation of the family works there. It has 8 hectares of vineyards, including much of the Premier Cru Les Amoureuses.
The vineyards for Robert Groffier Bourgogne Rouge have an average age of 40 years and are planted in shallow soils of brown limestone. They are harvested manually. The grapes ferment with part of the stems, and the final wine ages in barrels for a year.
Robert Groffier Bourgogne Rouge is a fruity, fresh and spicy wine with a medium body that is pleasant on the palate.
Robert Groffier Bourgogne Rouge 2016 is a wine with beautiful aromas of crisp fresh fruit, together with flowers and spices. On the palate it has a good attack and a moderately powerful body, all rounded off by a satiny texture. It also has tannins present, though these are integrated, and a lingering and delicious finish.
