Characteristics of Quinta da Muradella Fisterra

Quinta da Muradella Fisterra is a red wine of the Brancellao, Caiño da Terra, Souson, Bastardo and Caiño Redondo varieties produced by the Quinta da Muradella winery in the D.O. Monterrei.

A project started in 1993 by the prestigious winemaker José Luis Mateo García in Verín (Orense), Quinta da Muradella carries the legacy of the native varieties, the local terroir and the work of the past. He believes that wine is made in the vineyard, people just take part. This work has put the little Monterrei denomination of origin on the winemaking map.

The grapes used to make Quinta da Muradella Fisterra come from 10-year-old vineyards. 17 hectares of steep terroirs that were abandoned over 20 years ago because of how difficult they were to work, now brought back to life by Mateo with native varieties and organic farming. The grapes are harvested manually when they reach optimum ripeness.

Once in the winery, Quinta da Muradella Fisterra goes through different fermentation processes between used barrels and stainless steel tanks with native yeasts.

Quinta da Muradella Fisterra is an Atlantic red wine that enjoys the full freshness of acidity and all the nuances of the terroirs.

The Monterrei Valley is often only considered for the cultivation of cereals, fruit trees and other horticultural products, but the Valley is today one of the most dynamic regions in terms of wine production.
