Red wine Reserva. 13 months in French oak barrels.

Characteristics of Pricum Prieto Picudo

Pricum Prieto Picudo is a wine from the IO Tierra de León made by Bodegas Margon together with the renowned winemaker Raul Perez, who is the project manager. This is a varietal red wine.

The grapes come from old vines over 100 years old planted in a 10 km length plot. This covers 25 acres of land, 24 of which exclusively cultivate Prieto Picudo.

The harvest is done manually and the grapes are subsequently selected in the wine cellar. After maceration, which lasts about two months, the grapes are placed in a cooling cabin and fermented in vats of tapered oak. Maturing, which lasts 13 months, is carried out in new French oak barrels.

Bodegas Margon was established by Alfredo Martinez and Eugenio Gonzalez and is located in the town of Pajares de los Oteros in the province of León.

Tasting notes Pricum Prieto Picudo

A shiny, abundant tear. Intense cherry colour with violet hints.

Soft and enveloping, with fruity aromas and hints of oak.

Fleshy and fruity, its acidity gives it freshness.

Sight Picota cherry colour with violet reflections. Bright with abundant tears on the glass. Nose Intensely aromatic nose with a high concentration of fruit. Ripe red and black fruit gradually gives way to nice floral notes, fine spices and refreshing balsamic and methol notes. Interesting. Taste Good attack, very fruity and fleshy. Silky and enticing on the palate marked by a strong acidity and sweet, ripe tannins. Long finish with toasted and balsamic nuances at retro-olfaction. Round, appetizing and elegant.

D.O. Tierra de León

Winery Margón

The DO Tierra de León is one of the latest DOs to be officially established in Spain. The native Prieto Picudo grape variety is what helps set this region apart from anywhere else. Aside from the classic wines made using the ancient ‘madreo’ technique, with their semi sparkling rosé wines of the regionthis native variety also produces good quality young and aged red wines; they are very aromatic, with a wide persistence in the mouth, as well as a natural acidity that provides the wine with a strong freshness. The wines produced here are a reflection of the land on which they are grown and the climate, with a sense of authenticity and a uniqueness of the region.
