Characteristics of Pol Roger Brut Réserve

Pol Roger Brut Réserve is a champagne made with Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier varieties for the Champagne Pol Roger winery.

Champagne Pol Roger is a winery founded in 1895 that has been owned by the same family for 5 generations. It has 92 hectares of its own vineyard, and since its inception has managed to maintain a great reputation among the main brands of champagne.

The Pol Roger Brut Réserve vineyards are located in the Reims Mountain, the Marne Valley and the Epernay area.

To produce Pol Roger Brut Réserve the grape is pressed and the must remains cold, at about 6 ºC, for 24 hours to remove impurities by decanting and to obtain clean aromas in fermentation. Alcoholic fermentation takes place at a low temperature, about 18 °C, in stainless steel tanks. Each variety and plot is vinified separately. Once all the plots have been vinified, the wines undergo malolactic fermentation. This will remove some of the acidity and greenness from the wine and will endow it with a more creamy and lactic character. After malolactic fermentation the coupage is performed.

The second fermentation and ageing in stacks for Pol Roger Brut Réserve take place in underground cellars located 33 metres below ground level. The bottles are in stacks for 48 months. This will integrate the bubble with the wine. In addition, each bottle is given a manual stirring before disgorging and the liqueur d’expedition dosage . The stirring helps to enable the fine lees to be extracted easily in the disgorgement, and the liqueur d’expedition will give aromatic and gustatory touches peculiar to the estate.

Champagne Pol Roger Brut Réserve is elegant and refined, and as the winery itself says, is a champagne "for all occasions".

Tasting notes Pol Roger Brut Réserve

Champagne Pol Roger Brut Réserve has aromas of pear and mango and hints of jasmine, vanilla and brioche. On the palate the flavours remind us of quince and apricot jam, with hints of honey and beeswax. The bubble is soft and plentiful.
