Characteristics of Piérola Crianza
Piérola Crianza is a red wine from the Rioja produced by Fernández de Piérola. It is a varietal Tempranillo.
The grapes come from vines that are over 30 years old and whose production is less than 5,500 kg / hectare. The harvest is done manually.
Subsequently, the grapes are de-stemmed in stainless steel at a temperature of below 28º. After this process, Piérola Crianza is macerated with its skins for 30 days with two daily pumpings.
Finally, after malolactic fermentation, Piérola Crianza is aged for 18 months, with six-rackings in American oak barrels (70%) and French oak barrels (30%) whose age ranges between one and three years.
The Piérola Fernández winery was established in 1996 as a small family winery whose objective is to obtain complex, intense and elegant wines.
