Characteristics of Perelada Finca Garbet
Excellent red wine produced by Castilo de Perelada in the D.O. Empordà. Perelada Finca Garbet is a single-varietal of Syrah from one single estate, the Finca Garbet. Situated by the Mediterranean sea, the vineyards grow in slaty soils containing scarce organic materials, and are blown by the strong Tramuntana breeze typical of the D.O. Emporda. The high level of sunlight together with the scarce rainfall allow the perfect ripening of the grapes. The harvest is manual and the grapes are collected in 20kg boxes. They macerate at 25ºC for a month. Perelada Finca Garbet 2006 is aged in French oak barrels from Tronçais for 15 months.
Serve at 16ºC

SightDark cherry red colour with maroon edge.NoseFruity notes are mixed with subtle floral aromas, reminiscences of spices and a balsamic finish accompanied by slight ageing notes.TasteIn the mouth, this wine is powerful and fine at the same time, tasty, large, and has a great load of fruit. Great balance and great body. The tannins, although they are present, are really well-integrated, as well as its acidity. It is a rising red wine which fills the palate with plenty of flavours. It has a very long finish.

The landscape of the region of Empordà, located in the northeast of Catalonia, is full of contrasts, due to the natural limits of the Pyrenees in the north and the Mediterranean Sea and magnificent Costa Brava in the east. Thanks to these, the Empordà is a unique place, a special territory between the sea and the mountains, marked by the presence of the north wind known as Tramontana.
Historically, the great economic engine of D.O. Empordà has been and still is Perelada. Many other wineries have looked up to them. Although it produces a wide range of wines, from the more linear and competitive ones to the those that are more exclusive, such as Finca Garbet, the Finca Malaveïna or the Ex Ex collection, among others, it also offers wines made with native varieties, such as the Red and White Grenache, Samsó, etc. However, more than the numerical weight of the wine variety, we must point out the effort made by this winery to halt the progressive decline suffered by the area's image, as a land of bulk wines, where the few bottled wines were oxidised, and others were not too marketable. It is safe to say that Perelada lead the way and marked the new path of the Empordà wines.
