Pere Mata Reserva Familia is a cava from Cava made by the Mata i Coloma winery. This winery is located in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia (Barcelona), a region known for its great cavas.

Pere Mata Reserva Familia is a blend of Macabeo (50%), Xarel.lo (30%) i Parellada (20%), plus 25% other varieties. The grapes come from the winery's own vineyards located in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia.

For the preparation of Pere Mata Reserva Familia a double fermentation takes place. The first is for 15-20 days and is conducted at a controlled temperature of 16 ° C. The second fermentation is much longer, lasting between 60 and 70 days at 13-16ºC.

After, the cava ages on its lees for 48 months.

Alcohol: 11.5%
Serve at 6ºC

Tasting notes Pere Mata Reserva Familia

Sight Pale yellow. Clean and bright. Nose Medium to high intensity with citrus, floral and toasty notes. Taste Soft and pleasant entrance. Very citrusy and wide. Citric step. Short aftertaste.
Sight Deep straw colour. Nose Very clean and complex on the nose with mineral notes, bakery, citrus and floral aromas. Taste The entrance on the palate is very pleasant with flavours of bitter orange, biscuit and a nice minerality.

Winery Mata i Coloma

Cava was born under the constant shadow of its French counterpart, Champagne. However, produced over 1,200km away and a gap of over 100 years, Cava was always going to be a completely different product, even if produced using the same method and and sometimes with the same varieties. Firstly the climate and soil have a profound impact on the yields, while the plant strains that thrive here and completely different to those in the Champagne region. Fortunately, as more winemakers are becoming convinced of this, they are producing Cavas with their own personality, showing off the art of the second fermentation in the bottle like no other wine region in the world.
