Characteristics of Pepe Mendoza Casa Agrícola Velo Flor Ánfora
Pepe Mendoza Casa Agrícola Velo Flor Ánfora is a white wine aged in amphorae for 6 months, produced by the Casa Agrícola winery using the native varieties of the D.O. Alicante, Moscatel and Merseguera.
Casa Agrícola is the latest project by one of the winemakers who has shown the most commitment to the D.O. Alicante over the last 25 years. The knowledge and experience that he accumulated as an oenologist at Bodegas Pepe Mendoza he now puts into practice in small craft productions under his own brand.
Pepe Mendoza Casa Agrícola Velo Flor Ánfora is made with Moscatel and Merseguera; two local varieties of old vines trained in traditional bush-style that, using sustainable agriculture and minimal intervention, manage to transmit all the purity of the Mediterranean.
Pepe Mendoza Casa Agrícola Velo Flor Amphora is aged and refined in earthenware jars for 6 months. From the third month onwards the velo flor appears spontaneously. This is a layer of yeast that forms spontaneously on the wine and is necessary for its biological ageing. Without added yeast, and without decanting or clarifying, the wine is transferred directly from the amphora to the bottle.
Pepe Mendoza Casa Agrícola Velo Flor Ánfora is a white wine that transmits all the freshness of the Mediterranean using varieties that are native to Spain’s East Coast area.

Tasting notes Pepe Mendoza Casa Agrícola Velo Flor Ánfora
Pepe Mendoza Agricultural House Velo Flor Ánfora 2017 is a white wine that provides aromas of nuts (almonds and walnuts) on the nose, and notes of chamomile. On the palate it is unctuous and fatty, with salty notes.
There is no doubt that the Monastrell grape variety has become a fashionable grape variety. This region is home to over half a dozen cooperatives, which have been at the forefront of a wine revolution, making wines that are respectful to the local culture the area, cultivating vines with care, selecting only the best fruit and producing wines that faithfully express character of the terroir. These wines are easy to identify, due to the fact the estate or vineyard from which they came from is usually printed on their label. Also, their authenticity and quality can be guaranteed by the DO Alicante, which not only certifies the farms, but also everything posted on the wines labeling.
