Características de Pardas Xarel·lo

Pardas Xarel·lo Barrica is a white wine from Penedès, prepared by the bodega Pardas. This is a family winery located in Torrelavit, in the Alt Penedès (Barcelona).

Pardas Xarel·lo Barricais 100% made from the local variety of the Penedès, Xaral·lelo. Its grapes come from vineyards planted in 1971 on clay-limestone soils on the Can Comes farm.

For the cultivation of vines, sustainable agriculture is used and little interventionist methods ("no-tillage"): the use of herbicides, insecticides and synthetic products is prohibited. Also, they do not till the soil to prevent erosion and spontaneous covers are used to protect it.

The production process begins with a pre-fermentation and maceration for 12 hours with skins. Subsequently, a static racking is followed by fermentation in barrels at a controlled temperature of 16-17ºC.

Once the winemaking process is complete, the wine is aged for 8 months: 36% in new French oak barrels, 35% in used French oak barrels, 19% in chestnut barrels and 10% in stainless steel.

Tasting notes Pardas Xarel·lo

Sight Pale gold with green hues. Clean and bright. Nose Complex and good intensity. Aromas of white fruits with herbs, vegetables and citrus notes. A background of roasted notes from its time in oak. Taste Nice, tasty and fresh input. Silky, fruity and with glucose. Citric and lactic notes. Good acidity. Long finish.
Sight Beautiful straw yellow colour with light greenish reflections and steely edges. Very clean and bright. Nose Highly intense, clean and complex nose. Its abundant notes of fresh white and yellow stone fruit turn riper once the wine is aerated. They are released along with herbal, vegetal and citrus notes. In the background, the aromas of nuts, the marked notes of bakery and the elegant toasted hints provided during the ageing are also noticed.
Taste A very pleasant, dry, fresh and tasty Spanish wine. Wide and well-bodied wine with an unctuous texture, which coats the palate with tasty fruity notes, milky hints and fresh herbal notes on a background of wooden aromas. Very good acidity. Persistent finish with citric hints.

Nose Intense, complex and very clean aromas with abundant notes of white and yellow stone fruits, which become riper when the wine opens up. They are mixed with some herbal notes, citrus and vegetable aromas. When it opens up, expressive notes of exotic fruits are released along with the notes of nuts, baked cakes and toasted hints typical of the ageing.
Taste Very nice, dry, fresh and tasty wine with a wide and full-bodied mid palate, with a creamy texture that coats the mouth with tasty notes of fruit, abundant milky hints and fresh herbal aromas on a wooden background. Very good acidity and a lingering finish with hints of citrus.
Sight A pale yellow color, very bright and clean. Nose

Aromatic intensity. Aromas of ripe white fruit with hints of dry grass. Lactic notes found in the form of raising dairy and fine light notes of toast and nuts. Very soft citrus background.

Taste Fresh and pleasant. Entry with volume, emphasizes citrus with láctic hints. Tasty, light, creamy and satiny, with a pleasant acidity. Lingering finish and citrus.
Sight Straw yellow. Nose Nose, frank, fresh and complex. It has a wide range of different fruits: citrus entry and abundant exotic fruits mature. It also has roasted nuts. Taste Boca glycerine with volume and duration. It's very ripe, almost balsamic syrup as a component, mineral and vegetable. Good acidity needed for a good outcome and feel Xarel.lo typical bitter end.

Today, the D.O Penedès is experimenting with viticulture and winemaking like no other region in Spain, home to a vast range of different grape varieties. The region is home to traditional white and red varieties, foreign ones, noble ones, permitted grapes, experimental grapes, and those that demostrate intrinsic qualities. As well as the grapes, the production techniques used are also worth noting, the location of the vineyards, the yields per hectare, the wines produced using traditional, original or even exclusive blends, the different ageing times, as well as the complexity of the different barrels used! But the reality is, given the vast diversity, it can be difficult to pinpoint what really defines a wine from Penedès, since there are so many types of wines and wineries in the region. However, the common denominator of all the wines from Penedès continues to be balance and quality.
