Characteristics of Pardas Negre Franc

Pardas Negre Franc is a crianza red wine from D.O. Penedés made from Cabernet Franc (66%), Cabernet Sauvignon (23%) and Sumoll (11%) grape varieties.
There is no intervention in the harvest of the grape or in the making of the wine. This wine has been aged for 12 months in French oak barrels.
Alcohol: 15.0%
Serve at 16ºC

Tasting notes Pardas Negre Franc

Sight Pretty black cherry colour, medium density, slightly murky, with abundant fine tears shown on the glass. Nose Intense, very fragrant and direct. A strong balsamic presence. Hints of cocoa and black pepper, fresh plum and roasted peppers. Notes of candied orange peel. Taste Tender, elegant and seductive entry onto the palate which grows and expands giving way to a sustained, full and fleshy explosion of black fruits which, along with a persistent charge of tannin, fills the mouth en masse.
A long, fine and elegant finish with appropriate acidity that plays on all the sensations in the mouth.

Winery Pardas

Today, the D.O Penedès is experimenting with viticulture and winemaking like no other region in Spain, home to a vast range of different grape varieties. The region is home to traditional white and red varieties, foreign ones, noble ones, permitted grapes, experimental grapes, and those that demostrate intrinsic qualities. As well as the grapes, the production techniques used are also worth noting, the location of the vineyards, the yields per hectare, the wines produced using traditional, original or even exclusive blends, the different ageing times, as well as the complexity of the different barrels used! But the reality is, given the vast diversity, it can be difficult to pinpoint what really defines a wine from Penedès, since there are so many types of wines and wineries in the region. However, the common denominator of all the wines from Penedès continues to be balance and quality.

Celler Pardas has two proper names, Ramón Parera and Jordi Arnan, who join their knowledge in the land and in the wine. They settled in the municipality of Torrelavit to start cultivating the farm Finca Can Comas, with the aim of making great wines, full of pureness and in connection with the terroir of Penedés. They work with different local varieties that already existed in their farm, like the Monastrell and the Xarello, and in a very special way, with the red variety Sumoll. However, they also cultivate small amounts of other foreign varieties like the Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Marselan, among others.
