Characteristics of Otazu Rosado Merlot
Otazu Rosado is a rose wine from Navarra prepared by Señorío de Otazu. The winery is located in the town of Echauri, in a prime location near the river Arga, flanked by the mountains of Sarbil and el Perdón, near Pamplona, the capital of Navarra.
Otazu Rosado is not a typical rosé, it is 100% made from Merlot, unlike most Navarra rosé wines which are made from Garnacha and Tempranillo. The grapes come from vineyards planted on rocky and clay soils.
To prepare Otazu Rosado, a traditional bleeding is performed with the intention of maintaining the character of the variety. A cold Maceration is performed subsequently for 12 hours and a fermentation for 30 days at 30 degrees.

Some wine regions have to bear the weight of their own prestige and fame, and this is certainly the case for Navarra. For many years, the white and reds produced in this region came second to the rosés produced here with the noble Grenacha variety. However, the last two decades have seen ongoing changes in the wine-making sector in Navarra, changes which have completely transformed the styles of wine produced and have been consistently worthwhile, resulting in some of the white and red wines produced in Navarra being ranked among best rated in Spain.
The winery Señorío de Otazu is located in the town of Echauri in Navarre, to emphasize that it is the northernmost wine red wines in relation to being a French-style wine cellar built in the S. XIX. Is influenced by the Atlantic climate but enjoys a unique microclimate. Soils are porous with a mixture of clay and pebble. The varieties grown are cabernet sauvignon, tempranillo, merlot and chardonnay.
