Characteristics of Olagosa Crianza
Olagosa Crianza is a red wine from La Rioja produced by Bodegas Perica. This wine is a blend of Tempranillo (90%), Grenache (5%) and Mazuelo (5%).
The grapes come from small old vineyards over 60 years old, located on farms owned by the winery, which is located in Rioja Alta.
The harvest is done manually and the grapes are transported in boxes of 10 kilos so that they do not break and start fermenting too soon.
The alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, whist the malolactic fermentation takes place in French oak vats. Once these processes are complete, the final blend is made.
Olagosa Crianza is aged for 16 or 18 months in American and Eastern European oak barrels. Once bottled, the wine rests again for a minimum of six months in the bottle.
Bodegas Perica is a traditional family winery. It was established in 1912 and today has 140 hectares of vineyards.
Currently, the winery, led by the third generation of the family, is focusing on modernising the wine-making process.
