Characteristics of O Morto Vía Revolucionaria Mencía Pura
O Morto Vía Revolucionaria Mencía Pura is a natural, ecological and vegan red wine made by O Morto Wines with the Mencía variety in the D.O. Ribeiro (Galicia).
Matías Michelini is the man behind O Morto Wines. He is an Argentinean with a great family winemaking history who settled in the Galician town of Ribadavia, seeking the maximum purity of local grapes. Using organic agriculture and minimal intervention winemaking, he produces natural Atlantic wines that are full of personality.
O Morto Vía Revolucionaria Mencía Pura comes from young vines planted in soils of mainly slate and decomposed granite. These vines are cultivated using organic agriculture and no herbicides, pesticides or any other chemicals. Instead, he uses organic treatments, limits the yield to achieve a more concentrated grape and harvests manually at the optimum point of ripeness.
When the O Morto Vía Revolucionaria Mencía Pura grapes reach the winery, they are partially destemmed and spontaneously fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks. When the wine is ready, it is bottled and undergoes a slight cold clarification and only minimal sulphur is added.
As the name suggests, O Morto Vía Revolucionaria Mencía Pura is pure Mencía. A juicy, fresh and fruity wine with a mineral character.
