O Morto A Rocha Tinto is a red wine made in jars by O Morto Wines with the Brancellao, Souson, Caíño Tinto and Merenzao local varieties in the D.O. Ribeiro (Galicia). Made with minimal intervention, this is a natural, ecological, biodynamic and vegan wine.
After working in 4 different wineries in the Uco Valley, in Argentina, Matías Michelini moved to Spain and set up his own wine project in the Ribadavia area (Orense), where the Avía and Miño rivers meet. Under the name O Morto Wines, he produces unique wines that are a direct reflection of his 4 hectares of vineyards planted with local varieties in this magical Galician region of the D.O. Ribeira.
O Morto A Rocha Tinto is a single-plot wine that starts life in the Paraviñol area. It is made using old vines planted on decayed granite soils with rocks on the surface. They are cultivated using ecological agriculture with organic and biodynamic treatments and following the lunar calendar for all processes. The yield is very limited, the harvest is carried out manually and the grapes are selected in the vineyard itself.
In the winery, the whole clusters used to make O Morto A Rocha Tinto are gently pressed. Once some of the stalks have been separated, spontaneous fermentation begins with native yeasts in jars. It stays there for 9 months on its lees. Finally, it is bottled without being filtered, clarified or adding sulphites.
O Morto A Rocha Tinto is a natural, deep and complex red wine that is made through the sensitivity and inspiration awakened by a unique environment. A 100% Galician, 100% natural red.
