Characteristics of O Diviso
O Diviso is a barrel-aged red wine produced by Laderiras by Xil for Compañia de Vinos Telmo Rodríguez in the D.O. Valdeorras.
Telmo Rodríguez has projects in various areas in Spain: in Rueda, Toro, Ribera del Duero, Malaga, Cebreros, etc. It only uses indigenous varieties from the areas where it operates to show the typical nature of these varieties in each of the terroirs where they grow.
O Diviso is a coupage of Mencía, Brancellao, Sousón, Grenache and other red and white varieties. The vineyards are farmed organically. The plants are trained in bush form and the harvest is performed manually into boxes. The vines are located at an altitude of between 550 and 725 metres above the slopes leading down to the Bibei River. The plots are terraced due to the steep slopes. They are oriented to the south, west and northwest. The soils are acid and thick in texture.
O Diviso is fermented with native yeasts in small wooden vats. In the end it undergoes a gentle ageing for 12 months in wooden foudres. Only about 800 bottles are produced which also makes it a unique and exclusive wine.
O Diviso It is a terroir wine, with aromas of undergrowth and black fruit. On the palate it is fresh but at the same time powerful. A harmonious wine that has known how to perfectly match all its elements.

Vineyards line the slopes of the mountains that frame the river valleys and at the bottom of them, occupying floors slate of very good physical condition and adequate fertility, sometimes on steep slopes. The variety of higher quality and prestige, among whites, is the Godello, white wine grape that provides very fine fruity and floral aroma and excellent structure in the mouth. Next to this is the providing variety Tinta Mencia reds, purple, intense and elegant aroma and soft fleshy fruit not without its nerve.
It is safe to say that Telmo Rodríguez has the reputation of being one of the pioneers and best "driving winemakers", that is, winemakers that travel to different areas to produce wines from the same harvest, using only native varieties from their original regions, apart from paying special attention to the recovery of abandoned vineyards. Currently, Telmo Rodríguez, who enjoys being a winemaker more than an oenologist, is known in the wine industry for being one of the promoters of Spanish winemaking.
