Characteristics of Nécora
Nécora is a white wine produced by the JOC winery in the D.O. Valdeorras. The winery is a personal project of Jordi Oliver Conti, who seeks to produce wines that truly reflect the land.
Nécora is made exclusively with the Godello grape variety. The grapes are grown on vineyards home to sandy and slate soils on slopes, which prevents water retention, reducing growth on the vineyard and facilitating low production of the grapes. The vineyards are situated at altitudes around 400metres in the town of A Rua de Valdeorras (in Ourense).
In regards to the winemaking process, cold fermentation is carried out and work with its lees for 4 months which ensures the wine is weightier in the mouth.

This Denomination of Origin occupies part of the beautiful valleys of the rivers Sil and Jares in the Northeast of the province of Orense. Vineyards line the slopes of the mountains that frame the river valleys and at the bottom of them, occupying floors slate of very good physical condition and adequate fertility, sometimes on steep slopes. The variety of higher quality and prestige, among whites, is the Godello, white wine grape that provides very fine fruity and floral aroma and excellent structure in the mouth. Next to this is the providing variety Tinta Mencia reds, purple, intense and elegant aroma and soft fleshy fruit not without its nerve.
