Characteristics of Naevus
Naevus is a red wine from the Terra Alta region, produced by Celler La Bollidora, a winery founded back in 2005. The winery is situated on a former alcohol factory located in Vilalba dels Arcs, popularly known as "La Bollidora". The wine is a blend of Garnacha Negra (70%) and Syrah (30%) grapes taken from old vineyards that belong to the winery.
The vineyards house old vines that grow on clay-limestone soils poor in organic matter. There is a mediterranean climate in the area with continental influences. There are extremely cold winters and very hot summers, the contrast in temperature is considerable.
The harvest is carried out manually using 18kg capacity boxes. After passing through a selection table, the grapes ferment for 12 days in stainless steel tanks at a fixed temperature of 26degrees. After this, the must undergoes maceration for 8 days at 27degrees. Finally, Naevus spends 8 months in storage ageing.
Wines from Terra Alta boast a unique character. This is down to numerous factors, including the region's unique wine culture, the location of the vineyards in the inland Mediterranean, and the abundance of native varieties including the Garnacha Blanca, whose white wines perhaps best express the unique character of the terroir. It is for this reason that these wines hold their own distinctive classification of “Terra Alta Garnacha Blanca”.

In 2005 some of the facilities of an old distillery in Vilalba dels Arcs popularly known as "La Bollidora" were recovered.
What began as a weekend hobby evolved into one of the most renowned wineries of the D.O. Terra Alta, winning numerous accolades around the world.
The winery is located in the revamped facilities of the old distillery in Vilalba dels Arcs. This is why it is called La Bollidera (The Distillery). In 2005, Joan Carlos Sánchez Brianzó began producing exclusive wines in this old plant.
D.O. Terra Alta was recognized in 1972 as one of seven historic D.O.s in Catalunya. It is located in the South, between the river Ebro and the border with Aragón. What distinguishes the D.O. Terra Alta from other areas is its grape varieties, such as Garnacha Blanca, Garnache negra and Garnacha peluda.
