Characteristics of Monte Blanco
Monte Blanco is a white wine from Rueda produced by the Ramón Bilbao winery. This is a winery founded in 1924, which has adapted to modern techniques without losing the features of a traditional preparation.
The winery is located in the town of Haro, La Rioja Alta, a historic place in winemaking with the highest concentration of wineries in the world.
Monte Blanco is made from 100% Verdejo. The grapes come from vineyards planted on heterogeneous soils, which are shallow and well drained.
The development of Monte Blanco begins with a late harvest in order to benefit from low temperatures, preventing oxidation in grapes and musts.
Once in the winery, the grapes are cooled and brought to the pneumatic presses. The must is decanted into stainless steel tanks where, after settling, a slow fermentation is performed.
The Ramón Bilbao winery was hailed by IWSC (International Wine & Spirit Competition) as the best Spanish winery 2014.
