Characteristics of Monopole
Monopole is a white wine produced by the winery CVNE in Haro, D.O.Ca. Rioja.
CVNE (Winemaking Company of Northern Spain), is an old winery of Barrio de La Estación, in Haro. It was founded in 1879. It currently manages around 545 hectares, located in the subareas of La Rioja Alta and La Rioja Alavesa. The vines where this winery gets their grapes to produce their wines are planted on clayey-calcareous, clayey-ferrous and alluvial soils, with a predominant Atlantic climate.
Monopole is a white wine made from the Viura grape variety. After soft pressing, they produce the free-run must. Fermentation is carried out in stainless steel deposits at a controlled temperature.
Monopole is a fresh, flowery and fruity wine, with a predominance of Mediterranean white fruit. A zesty, elegant wine.
High summer temperatures define this vintage. After a mild winter with scarce rainfall, spring started with a lot of rain, which favoured the growth cycle of the vine. During the summer, they experienced very high temperatures and the absence of rain, which resulted in great, healthy vines. As a general result, this was a balanced year, where the final absence of rains led to a good concentration of grapes. This year is defined by a voluminous vintage that can be enjoyed from its youth.
After a winter with normal temperatures and rainfall for D.O.Qa Rioja, high temperatures in spring and summer market his year, as well as the absence of rain at the most dangerous times for the vineyard. These factors led to very healthy vines, but the harvest was brought forward three weeks on average. As a result, this year was rated as a very good one in the area, with the only drawback of not reaching full ripeness. Therefore, the wines from this vintage are those typical from Rioja, with a slightly higher alcoholic strength and a good balance between acidity and ripening.

Cvne is the winery that gave rise to the company in 1879. And it still retains its original site: the wine Station District of Haro in Rioja Alta. The Haro winery consists of a set of buildings and drafts, most of the nineteenth century, arranged around a courtyard. Above them were built pavilions processing, bottling and shipping of wine that are now preserved.
