Characteristics of Miriade Viognier
Miriade is a white wine from V.T Castilla produced by the Pago de Vallegarcía winery. This wine is made using only Viognier (100%) grapes.
Grown on vineyards spanning over 5 hectares and cultivated using as Smart-Dyson treillising system, the yield of grapes is around 9,000kg per hectare. The harvest is carried out by hand only when the grapes have reached their optimal ripeness. Small boxes with a 15kg capacity are used to transport the grapes to the winery, with the aim of not breaking the grapes and maintaining the highest quality possible.
Once at the winery’s facilities, the grapes are destemmed and pressed before being cold macerated at a temperature of 8º. The obtained juice then undergoes a controlled phase of fermentation in tanks. Finally, before being bottled, the wine is aged for around 6 months on its lees.
The Pago de Vallegarcía winery is situated at 850 metres above sea level, in the Montes de Toledo, and spans across 31 hectares. The winery, founded by the buisnessman Alfonso Cortina, looks to produce modern whites using a variety that is little used on the Spanish wine scene.
