Meinklang Zweigelt is a biodynamic red wine made by the Meinklang winery in Weinland Österreich (Burgenland) with the Zweigelt variety.
Meinklang is a family winery in Austria, in a region called Burgenland. This area is near the Hungarian border and is known for its great natural landscape. Although the winery has been going for a long time, they have recently moved to using biodynamic, organic and sustainable cultivation at all times. That is why vineyards, pastures and animals are found on the same land.
Certified biodynamic winemakers, Meinklang's work focusses on the vineyard where they are committed to biodiversity. This is an authentic garden with fruits, vegetables and plants living in harmony with the aim of achieving the natural balance of the strain, without using chemical products. When the Meinklang Zweigelt grape reaches optimum ripeness, it is harvested manually.
In the winery Meinklang Zweigelt grapes spend about 9 days macerating with their own skins. They then undergo spontaneous fermentation using native yeasts. The wine then ages with its own fine lees in large used barrels and stainless steel tanks. Before bottling the wine is not clarified or filtered.
Meinklang Zweigelt is a red wine made with minimal intervention to make sure we can appreciate a unique native variety in its most natural state.
