Meinklang Konkret Rot is a natural, single-variety Saint Laurent red wine produced by the Meinklang winery, under the D.O.P. Burgenland, Austria.
The grapes used to make the Meinklang Konkret Rot wine come from plots with sandy loam soils also known as “cold soils” that are worked under the principles of biodynamic agriculture and certified by Demeter. When the grapes reach the winery, they are gently pressed and macerated with their skins for a long time. When alcoholic fermentation has finished, the wine ages for two years in 900-litre concrete eggs. It is bottled without filtering, so it is suitable for vegans and has plenty of aging potential.
Meinklang is a family estate located right at the edge of Austria, close to the border with Hungary. A love for animals, plants and farm work has been passed down the generations to the children, who now each work in their respective areas of expertise in a free environment and with great respect for nature.
At Meinklang, they are convinced that it is possible to work with native yeasts in the winery, without clarifying or filtering, without the use of additives and letting fermentation occur in its own time and spontaneously. “Trusting nature is a beautiful and exciting experience”, they say. And nature responds by creating these honest and expressive wines.
