Characteristics of Máquina & Tabla
Máquina & Tabla is a red qine from the Toro region produced by the Máquina & Tabla winery. This wine is a blend of Grenache (60%) and Tinta de Toro (40%).
The grapes used for Máquina & Tabla are grown on vineyards that span 6 hectares and are around 60 years in age. The vineyards are situated in the locality of Villaester, on the surroundings in the river Duero.
The vines are ungrafted and grow on soils that are sandy. The harvest is carried out when the grapes are at a perfect stage of ripeness. They are then transported to the winery as quickly as possible in order to not lose their freshness which gives an acidity.
At the winery, the grapes are incubated, with half of the grapes being entirely incubated. They left to ferment with indigenous yeasts with a long maceration that lasts for around 6 weeks.
Before being bottled, Máquina & Tabla is aged in Oak barrels for between 6-12 months.
Máquina & Tabla is a project that began back in 2012. From scratch they have biodynamically cultivated some of the best vineyards in the Castilla and Leon region. It is clear that their work is paying off, since winery often appears in the top positions of the rankings in magazines.
D.O. Toro is a Denomination of Origin that is situated in the north west of Spain, along the River Duero and its tributaries. From the beginning the Tinta de Toro variety has produced great red wine that is full of flavour and complexity: powerful and full bodied with great tannins.
