Characteristics of Malleolus de Sanchomartín

Malleolus de Sanchomartín is a wonderful wine produced by the Emilio Moro winery in the OJ Ribera del Duero.

It is a varietal Tinto Fino from Pago Sanchomartín, a farm owned by the winery which was planted in 1944, and subsequently replanted in 1964. The vineyards are located on the right bank of the River Duero, in the town of Pesquera del Duero. They are planted at the top of a slope on a small area of soil with limestone and clay. The grapes are macerated for 28 days in tanks of 3,000 Kg before malolactic fermentation takes place in American oak barrels.
Malleolus de Sanchomartín is aged for 18 months in new French oak barrels. Malleolus de Sanchomartín is a very expressive, elegant and complex wine.

Red cherry, high layer.

Nose

Intense, complex and elegant nose. Red fruit, hints of liquorice, mineral notes and toasted flavours from aging.

Taste

The palate is silky and wonderful with lots of volume.

Fresh, mineral, good acidity and a very polished tannins. Long lingering aftertaste.

Sight Cherry red colour, high robe. Nose Very intense. Black fruit and lots of mineral notes, with toasted aromas from the wood. Gains in complexity, with sweet and spicy notes appearing. Taste This wine is powerful and persistent in the mouth, with silky tannins caressing the palate. Long and persistent aftertaste.

Sight Intense cherry color with purple edges. Tear is slow and dense. Nose Very complex aromatically. Intense and highlighting in ripe black fruit compote with slight balsamic notes. Herbal and flavored wood touches. Very light spicy touch (pepper). Taste On the palate, is presented full, meaty, powerful and balanced. Glyceric, a wine with ripe tannins. Very long lingering aftertaste, with hints of well integrated wood.

Harvest after harvest, Emilio Moro has found his own and precise identity in the production of the traditional reds of Ribera del Duero, with a modern touch. These wines are full of colour, highly expressive, virile and eager to live. They rely on the caste and nobility of the family clone Tinto Fino, the strength of the terroir, the selection of wood and a well-interpreted modern oenology. The younger red wines have a good body, without lacking in flavour and balance. The game between time and wood suggests more complex wines, more penetrating, and at the same time more velvety. This is particularly portrayed in their single-vineyard wines.
