Loxarel 790 is a Reserva red wine made in the D.O. Penedés made by Bodega Loxarel, a winery that practices organic and biodynamic farming techniques.
The wine is made with Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from just one vineyard, Can Mayol, at 250 m altitude above sea level. This vineyard is strongly shaped by the Mediterranean sea.
Its name is not random. 790 is the number of days from the harvest (the second week of October) until when the wine is bottled, which also happens to coincide with a "fruit" day in the biodynamic calendar. The grapes go through a pre-fermentative cold macerations with the grape's skins in order to extract as many aromas as possible. The ageing takes place in 300 litre French oak barrels.
This wine has not been treated with any chemicals, nor has it been filtered or stabilized. With time small sediments may appear in the wine, which will only increase its quality.
